Suffering and caring

30 September 2016

THE Sheldon Short Guides, published by SPCK, are written for those who suffer with specific problems, and are also useful for the carers of such people. Written by professionals and experts in their fields, they are good basic introductions, which also indicate what further help is available.

Phobias and Panic (978-1-84709-368-4) is by Professor Kevin Gournay, a psychiatrist; Depression is by Tim Cantopher, a retired psychiatrists; and Memory Problems is by a neuropsychologist, Dr Sallie Baxendale. They each cost £3.99 (£3.60).

In First Steps to Living With Diabetes: Types 1 and 2, Simon Atkins, a GP, aims to do something similar for a physical condition (Lion, £4.99 (£4.50); 978-0-7459-7043-1).
