MINDFULNESS, described in terms of appreciating each moment and fostering a “pure enjoyment in all things”, is presented in this book as a helpful approach to Christian living. How to Be a Mindful Christian: 40 simple spiritual practices by Sally Welch (Canterbury Press, £10.99 (CT Bookshop £9.90); 978-1-84825-845-7) offers reflections on Bible passages (which are printed out in full), followed by exercises (“Try and focus your attention on different parts of your body,” it urges). Not strictly a Lent book, it includes sections for Holy Week, as well as for pilgrimage.
