A big change for Big Issue seller

24 March 2016

SWNS

A BIG ISSUE seller has married the sweetheart he first saw when begging for money on the streets of Bristol.

Jack and Toni Osborne-Richardson first met after Toni became upset at not being able to afford to help Jack. Seeing her distress, he offered her 50p of his own for the electricity meter as she was unable to keep it running one Christmas.

The couple felt overwhelmed by generosity on their big day. Handmade wedding rings were donated, as well as suits, a wedding cake, and Toni’s hair and make-up. The vicar at Jack’s soup kitchen offered to do the service free of charge.

“I thought I’d just been selling magazines for the last two years, but apparently I’ve been cheering people up, and helping them get through their hard times,” says Jack. “Because of the kindness of everybody, it’s made it real. I feel like I’m living in a fairy tale”
