Late Prime Minister investigated

07 August 2015

Late Prime Minister investigated: at least five police forces are investigating allegations of child sexual abuse involving Sir Edward Heath, it was reported this week. Forces in Wiltshire, Kent, Jersey, and Hampshire, and the Metropolitan Police, are conducting separate inquiries into Sir Edward, who was Prime Minister from 1970 to 1974, and died in 2005. The Sir Edward Heath Charitable Foundation welcomed the investigation. “We wholeheartedly believe [it] will clear Sir Edward’s name,” a spokesman told the BBC. Sir Edward was news editor of the Church Times from 1947 to 1948
