Sir, — With regard to your cartoon by Dave Walker on Giving (Cartoons, 20 November): he omits a picture of: “We can’t afford to give, because we are skint and buy food from the pound shop and sometimes live off a can of beans for a day, and cannot afford to pay the heating bill.” That is the plight of some elderly people living alone and forgotten.
