CHADWICK. — On 17 July, the Revd Professor William Owen Chadwick: Chaplain of Wellington College (1942-46); Fellow of Trinity Hall, Cambridge (1947-56); Dean of Trinity Hall (1949-56); Master of Selwyn College, Cambridge (1956-83); Dixie Professor of Ecclesiastical History in the University of Cambridge (1958-68); Regius Professor of Modern History (1968); Fellow of Selwyn College since 1983; Chancellor of the University of East Anglia (1985-94); aged 99.

FREEMAN. — on 17 July, the Revd Alan John Samuel Freeman: Assistant Curate of St Nicholas’s, Harpenden, and Curate-in-Charge of All Saints’, Coldharbour Lane (1955-60); Rector of Aspley Guise (1960-75); Rural Dean of Fleete (1967-70); Rural Dean of Ampthill (1970-75); Hon. Canon of St Albans Cathedral (1974-92); Vicar of Boxmoor (1975-92); Chaplain of Hemel Hempstead Hospital (1975-92); Rural Dean of Berkhamsted (1985-92); Canon Emeritus since 1992; aged 87.

HARRIS-DOUGLAS. — On 3 July, the Revd John Douglas Harris-Douglas: Rector of St Tudy (1971-74); Truro Diocesan Adviser for Children’s Work and Assistant Director of Education (1971-76); Rector of St Tudy with Michaelstow (1974-76); Fiskerton (1976-79); Lincoln Diocesan Director of Education and RE Adviser (1976-79); Vicar of Brafferton with Pilmoor and Myton-on-Swale (1979-84); Priest-in-Charge of Thormanby (1979-84); Vicar of Brafferton with Pilmoor, Myton-on-Swale and Thormanby (1984-97); aged 81.

HELFT. — On 17 June, the Revd Gunter Helft: Chaplain of Essex Home School for Boys, Chelmsford (1948-52); Assistant Curate of Billesley Common (1952-53); Missions to Seamen Chaplain, Kobe (1953-54); Yokohama (1954-56); Port Sudan (1957); Literary Secretary of Missions to Seamen HQ (1957-62); Oxford Diocesan Youth Officer (1962-65); Training Officer of the C of E Youth Council (1965-67); Head Master of Archbishop Temple’s School, Lambeth (1967-71); Don Valley High School, Yorkshire (1971-80); aged 92.

HEWETT. – On 5 July, the Revd Maurice Gordon Hewett: Rector of Chevening (1960-95); Hon. Wing Chaplain of the Air Training Corps (1996-2004); aged 86.

LOVELESS. — On 19 July, the Revd Christopher Hugh Loveless: Vicar of Warnham since 1999; aged 53.

LOXLEY. — On 9 July, the Revd Ronald Arthur Keith Loxley: Industrial Chaplain for North-East London (1971-83); Industrial Chaplain, and Priest-in-Charge of Theydon Garnon (1983-92); aged 88.

ROBERTS. — On 20 July, the Revd Colin Edward Roberts: Team Vicar of Thamesmead (1987-89); Assistant Curate of St Peter’s, Streatham (1989-90); in Zimbabwe (1990-92); Vicar of St John’s, Earlsfield, since 1992; aged 65.

STUCHBERY. — On 2 June, the Ven. Ian Stuchbery: Vicar of Latton (1963-69); Christ Church Cathedral, Montreal, Canada (1969-73); Rector of St Philip’s, Montreal West (1973-78); St Matthew’s, Winnipeg (1978-86); St Barnabas’s, St Lambert, Quebec (1986-94); Archdeacon of St Mary’s, Montreal diocese (1994-99); Interim Priest-in-Charge of St Cuthbert’s, Delta, New Westminster (after 1999); aged 81.
