Ongoing talks: Rochester Cathedral

THE Dean of Rochester Cathedral, the Very Revd Dr Mark Beach, has stepped back from public ministry after he separated from his wife, Annabel.

The diocese of Rochester said in a statement that his separation had concerned some people in the "cathedral community". Although Dr Beach has not resigned, the statement said that talks were ongoing, and, while this was taking place, he would no longer minister at the cathedral.

Released on Wednesday of last week, the statement said: "The Very Reverend Mark Beach, Dean of Rochester Cathedral remains in post. However, his decision to separate from his wife has raised issues for some within the cathedral community, and these matters are under active discussion. In the mean time, the Dean has withdrawn from public ministry."
