Your obituary of John Scott (Gazette, 21 August), made no reference to Dr Percy Saunders (Organist of Wakefield Cathedral from 1946 until his death in 1970). John was a chorister under him, as well as receiving organ lessons from him in the late 1960s. He was still a chorister when Jonathan Bielby arrived in September 1970, but was asked to leave the choir (along with other boys whose voices had broken), as during the interregnum no-one had plucked up the courage to ask them to leave.
