From Mr Philip Nicholson
Sir, - The Revd Bill Church's assertion (Letters, 11
April) that "most sources agree that there were no religious
executions in Edward's six-year reign" is contradicted by the
well-known case of the condemnation and burning of Joan Bocher
(Joan of Kent).
As Cranmer, years later, was led out to the stake, was then, as
some commentators claimed at the time, the word of the Lord
fulfilled: "Judge not that ye be not judged. For with what
judgement ye judge, ye shall be judged . . ."?
