CHRISTIE'S

Seated Figure (1960), an oil on canvas painting by Francis Bacon, is to be auctioned at Christie's in New York, on 12 November. It is one of a Bacon's "Papal" series, prompted by the artist's preoccupation with Velázquez's 1650 work, Portrait of Pope Innocent X. The "Papal" works are not often offered for sale; the Seated Figure is expected to sell for up to $60 million
