Children Not Soldiers looks to 2016

A NEW UN campaign, Children Not Soldiers, which seeks to end the use of children by national security forces by 2016, has been welcomed by World Vision. The charity, which works with partners to help rehabilitate child soldiers, said that the campaign must address the reasons why children take part in wars. The UN is focusing on eight countries: Afghanistan, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Myanmar, Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, and Yemen.

Archbishop Welby welcomes SECAM

AFRICAN Churches have a "critical" part to play in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, including tackling climate-change, the Archbishop of Canterbury said last week. On Friday, he welcomed a delegation from the Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM) to Lambeth Palace. The delegation emphasised the importance of reconciliation as the context for evangelisation.
