Safely delivered: Nyirakanyana Françoise, who was assisted by the Anglican Church of Bukane, Rwanda, when she found out she was pregnant with quadruplets. The development charity Compassion is drawing attention to efforts to improve maternal health in partnership with Anglican Churches in 26 countries across the developing world, in the run-up to International Women's Day tomorrow. Rwanda has some of the highest maternal and infant mortality rates in the world, with 340 maternal deaths per 100,000 births (compared with 12 in the UK).
