Safely delivered: Nyirakanyana Françoise, who was assisted by
the Anglican Church of Bukane, Rwanda, when she found out she was
pregnant with quadruplets. The development charity Compassion is
drawing attention to efforts to improve maternal health in
partnership with Anglican Churches in 26 countries across the
developing world, in the run-up to International Women's Day
tomorrow. Rwanda has some of the highest maternal and infant
mortality rates in the world, with 340 maternal deaths per 100,000
births (compared with 12 in the UK). The risks are even greater
when there is more than one baby to be delivered
