From the Revd John Watkins, the Revd Nicky Seabright, and
Prebendary Sue Strutt
Sir, - Even though the machinery and process of appointing
new male bishops to existing vacancies is unlikely to be halted,
doesn't the present position on the ordination of women bishops
place on current male candidates a responsibility to hold back
until all those whom God may have called can be considered? Any new
appointments will lead to a tenure of several years. It will not
reflect well on any male candidate to squeeze in during the last
days of a system that so many have felt has been so wrong for far
too long.
