THE "rebranding" of Trinity College, Dublin, which is currently
under way, will mean that the Bible is removed from its
crest.
Besides adopting the proposal by the Provost of Trinity, Dr
Patrick Prendergast, to rename the institution "Trinity College,
the University of Dublin", the college is altering its shield so
that the clasped Bible is replaced by an open book - to demonstrate
openness and inclusivity, the board said.
The decisions have been taken after an initiative "to create a
shared visual identity" that tells "a more cohesive and powerful
story about what Trinity wishes to achieve in the future".
