Anglican Communion appoints interim secretary general

THE director for unity, faith, and order at the Anglican Communion has been appointed as its interim secretary general. Canon Alyson Barnett-Cowan has agreed to be a half-time consultant until the position is filled, it was announced on Tuesday. She will be based at her home in Canada. The current secretary general, Canon Kenneth Kearon, will leave at the end of the year to take up his post as Bishop of Limerick & Killaloe in the Church of Ireland.
