ONCE a scarecrow, now an angel, floating above the congregation
at St Helen's, Wroughton, in Bristol diocese. The
Christmas Messy Church was turned into an angel-making workshop
when more than 30 adults and children spent two hours working
together to transform what had been a scarecrow in the village
carnival competition last summer into something much holier, to fly
above the chancel step for Christmas.
The Curate, the Revd Barbara Abrey, tells me that they also made
several smaller angels to hover near the crib.
