THIS is a Herod who would frighten any toddler, but he was only
one of the Advent "windows" in the village of Long Sutton, in
Bath & Wells diocese. On each evening in
Advent, between 20 and 50 people (plus a dog or two) gathered at
six for an Advent Adventure to discover a "window" of the Advent
calendar depicting the Christmas story in a garden, doorway, window
- or even a field, the Team Vicar, the Revd Jane Twitty, says.
The Long Sutton Primary School contributed angels, stars,
nativity scenes, and a willow angel. The Second Sunday Service
congregation made scarecrow shepherds, wise men, and Herod. On
other evenings, there have been a stained-glass window, real sheep,
and an incense burner.
