DR KRISH KANDIAH of the Evangelical Alliance will succeed Lord
Carey as President of the London School of Theology (LST), it was
announced last week.
Dr Kandiah is currently executive director of churches in
mission at the Evangelical Alliance. He also chairs Tearfund's
theological advisory panel. Before joining the Alliance, he was
director of the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics, and a
tutor in mission and evangelism at Wycliffe Hall. He was also a
member of the University of Oxford's theology faculty. He will
remain director of Home for Good, the organisation he founded to
encourage churches to play a greater part in fostering and
adoption.
The statement announcing his appointment said that the position
of President, traditionally an "outward-facing role", had evolved,
so that Dr Kandiah would be "responsible for the overall academic
and spiritual leadership", and play "an active role in the
day-to-day life of the school". He would be given the task of
promoting "the value of theological education across the wider
Evangelical world".
On Friday, Dr Kandiah said that the School had "helped shape so
much of the Evangelical landscape in the UK and beyond".
