From Canon John Goodchild

Sir, - When the president at holy communion wears the canonical uniform, as someone ordained, licensed, and under the authority of the bishop (Synod, 18 July), it is a sign that the worship is not just an expression of like-minded local enthusiasts doing their own thing, but that the gathering is part of the greater Church in space and time. In a pub or café, the symbolism is even more important.
