Francis Martin encounters a clash between aesthetics and function in a south-east London church
The Bishop of Chichester is seeking a priest-in-charge of this rural benefice, situated in a scenic part of East Sussex near to the towns of Battle and Hastings. We have recently combined into a single parish (ER 83) and are actively engaged with the life of our villages. Worship, in the broadly central tradition of the Church of England, takes place in both churches each Sunday.
We are a large and vibrant Church of England parish in North London (electoral roll 436) embracing formal and informal patterns of worship with the Eucharist at its heart.
Buckfast Abbey is seeking to appoint an Assistant Master of the Music from January 2023 (or sooner, if possible).
Do you have the necessary qualities to lead us forward, growing our churches at the heart of their communities under the Transforming Church vision?
We pray for a priest who will bring about the changes that are needed to reinvigorate the two churches within the parish. This will require a practical, creative and empathetic thinker who can discern and develop the gifts that lie within the two congregations to help us strengthen links with our community.
