From Shemil Matthew

Sir, - Your report (News, 27 April) about Bishops' seeking twice as many minority-ethnic dignitaries prompted me to respond.

A group of minority-ethnic ordinands at Ripon College, Cuddesdon, recognising the need to encourage and support each other, are organising a day conference on 7 May. This conference seeks to explore the possibility of establishing a network of people in ministry in the Church of England who have minority-ethnic backgrounds.

Our speakers are Dr Elizabeth Henry and the Revd Dr Evie Vernon. Anyone who is interested is welcome.
