There’s another country

From the Revd Kenneth Cross
Sir, - We should not be perturbed, whatever the result is in Scotland today. Jesus said: "My kingdom is not of this world." This does not mean disengagement, but it is about perspective.

The referendum was about mere political borders. There is nothing inherently sacred about either the UK or Scotland: if either or both are to change, or not, then fine! We continue in grace in the work of reconciliation and peace - our true Christian vocation. This involves understanding the other (whether they supported Yes or No) and disentangling our own prejudices with humility.

And thank God that the process was democratic, with vigorous debate, without widespread violence. That's worth celebrating.
