Welcome visitor

01 August 2014

IT WAS a perfect sunny day for the annual church ploughman's picnic on the grass outside St Christopher's, Ditteridge, in Bristol diocese. As it coincided with the feast of St Peter, they had a special guest - Peter, the Silver Duckwing Welsummer bantam cock, belonging to the Associate Minister, Canon John Ayers.

Canon Ayers began keeping poultry when he lived in north India with the Leprosy Mission in the 1960s; the St Christopher's ploughman's picnic has been going on even longer.
