THE management of Lincoln School of Theology has been praised by
inspectors from the Ministry Division for coping well with a period
of "uncertainty" regarding its future.
The diocese took sole responsibility for the School of Theology
last year, and appointed an acting principal, Sally Myers, who has
established a new management team.
The report gives an overall verdict of "confidence with
qualifications" in the School, which, at the time of the
inspection, was training 30 ordinands and 48 Readers. It expresses
confidence in 12 out of 16 areas, including the curriculum for
formation and education, and the community and corporate life. It
makes 11 recommendations for improvement, including the appointment
of staff members "to take responsibility for all aspects of
training in the preparation and conduct of public worship".
The report states: "Impressive changes have been made since the
diocese took sole responsibility for the course, but what we have
experienced is very much 'work in progress' and needs seeing in
that light."
