THE Anglican Church in Hong
Kong has adopted the Anglican Covenant, it was announced last
month.
The Church's Synod voted to
adopt the Covenant when it met at the beginning of June. It is the
seventh province to adopt the Covenant. The others are: the
Anglican Church of Mexico, the Church of the Province of Myanmar,
the Church in the Province of the West Indies, the Church of the
Province of South East Asia, the Anglican Church of Papua New
Guinea, and the Anglican Church of the Southern Cone of
America.
The Covenant has been
"subscribed" to rather than adopted by the Church of Ireland (News,
20 May), and it has been approved by the Anglican Church of
Southern Africa, pending ratification at its next Synod.
The Covenant has been rejected by a majority of Church of
England dioceses (
News, 30 March 2012).
