From Mrs Jenni Hall
Sir, - I enjoyed reading Nick Thorpe's interview with Julie Davidson, where they talked about Mary Livingstone ( Features, 15 March).

I am sure that Mary was an African at heart, coping with tremendous trials and tribulations while in her own land, but falling apart on leaving. Moffats still live and work in Botswana. One appears in Alexander McCall Smith's Ladies' Detective Agency stories.
