Archbishop calls for prayer after home attacked

THE Archbishop of Tanzania, Dr Valentino Mokiwa, has called for prayers after his home was attacked earlier this month. The Anglican Communion News Service reported on Saturday that, "on the night of Saturday 2 March, a security guard at the residence of the Archbishop was attacked by unknown assailants wielding machetes. . . The guard is recovering and the Archbishop has asked for prayers for healing from the physical and mental scars that such an unprovoked attack has caused."

Violence against Christians in Pakistan condemned

THE setting-alight of two churches and more than 150 homes in a Christian district of Lahore was condemned by participants at a conference in the House of Lords, on 12 March, arranged by the Pakistan Minorities Rights Organisation (News, 15 March). Speakers at the conference called for the government of Pakistan "to protect and provide safety to minorities in Pakistan", a statement from the organisation said.
