"Plans": Archbishop Welby
THE Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church in the United
States, Dr Katharine Jefferts Schori, told the US House of Bishops
last week that the Archbishop of Canterbury is planning to visit
her in April 2014, as a stage in his initiative to visit all the
Primates of the Anglican Communion during his first 18 months in
post. "The Archbishop of Canterbury has contacted me, and we are
planning a private discussion next April," Dr Jefferts Schori told
the House of Bishops' autumn meeting in Nashville, Tennessee. A
statement from the Episcopal Church said that current plans expect
Archbishop Welby's visit to coincide with a national Episcopal
conference, Reclaiming the Gospel of Peace: An Episcopal
gathering to challenge the epidemic of violence, to be held in
Oklahoma City from 9 to 11 April.
