Mancunian warmth: part of the new heating system being installed in Manchester Cathedral. Its geothermal design, drawing heat from piles driven into the earth, will make Manchester one of the greenest cathedrals to date. As part of the work, a new stone floor is being laid. The cathedral is expected to reopen at the end of November.
