‘Customer’ feedback

From the Revd Ian Falconer
Sir, - I was amused (bemused?) at a recent newsletter from the C of E Pensions Board. It appears that we pensioners are no longer "members" or even "beneficiaries", but "customers".

As a traditionalist, I am a customer in a shop, but a passenger on public transport, client at a solicitor's, patient at the doctor's, guest at a hotel, patron of a pub, etc.

No doubt parish clergy will soon have to return church-attendance figures as "no. of customers".
