Fact or flannel?

From the Revd Graham Sykes

Sir, - I read with interest the report on the GAFCON conference (News, 1 November), and particularly the assertions of Mr Perkin and Dr Ovey. Would it be possible to publish the academic sources for their claims? My experience is that the vast majority of the clergy, as one would expect, are orthodox in terms of their belief in the Trinity, atonement, repentance, and grace.

I would hope that the assertions made about our clergy are based on peer-assessed academic research, and not simply cheap headline-grabbers without substance in reality.
