Sir, - My biography of Archbishop Cosmo Lang was published by I. B. Tauris last year. It has recently been drawn to my attention that there are some inaccuracies at various points in chapter two of this book.

In this chapter, I cite comments attributed to Canon Alan Wilkinson, the church historian, which I wrongly claim were made by him during the Channel 4 series Canterbury Tales in 1996. As a result, I misinterpret his entry for Lang in the New Oxford Dictionary of National Biography.

In fact, these television comments were made by another contributor to the programmes, and not by Canon Wilkinson. For these errors and for any distress caused, I sincerely apologise. They will be corrected in any future printing.
