Sir, - Thank you for publishing my article on the 2009 C of E report Church and Earth (Comment, 31 May). In your minor editing down of my original article, it appears that the suggestion that the Church should work towards disinvestment from fossil fuel and extraction companies is a recent idea.

In fact, this is a suggestion made by the report itself, together with call for a "Sustainable Investment Policy". This is, indeed, made more pertinent by recent news about "unburnable fuel reserves".
