Monday fun-day

THE Launde Abbey fun day on Bank Holiday Monday was a rip-roaring success, I am told, with "record numbers, and large sums raised for the Leicestershire Retreat House". The Abbey serves the dioceses of both Leicester and Peterborough as a residential retreat house, and, as a charitable trust, relies on its fund-raising events to raise income for its work throughout the year.

The event organiser, Suzanne Page, says that they were overwhelmed with the success of the event. "There really was something for all the family, from classic cars, model railways, and plenty of bargains at the car-boot sale to games, pony rides, and even a miniature farmyard for the children to enjoy." Both the dog-agility show and the pet-dog competition went extremely well, as did the "wacky races" for adults and children, while the ice creams, drinks, and cakes were all sold out by the end of the afternoon.
