St Martin's Episcopal church
in the Hilltown area of Dundee escaped with minor damage to the
rear of the building, when two 1970s tower blocks in the area were
flattened by controlled explosion, at the end of last month. The
church, which is to celebrate its centenary next year, had made
extensive preparations before the blast. Plastic seal was placed
around the organ, and the outer doors were also sealed, to prevent
dust penetration. Services resumed at St Martin's a few days later.
Flats in the two blocks had become increasingly difficult to let,
and the area is now a regeneration area
