A former Bishop of Cork,
Cloyne & Ross, the Rt Revd Roy Warke, has sent me a photograph
of the annual reunion of retired bishops of the Church of Ireland,
together with their wives, which recently took place at
Julianstown, in Meath & Kildare diocese.
Ignoring all the accumulated
wit and wisdom of the six other bishops (not to mention their
wives), he tells me that "the interesting fact" is that the
one-eyed Jack Russell terrier, Baysie, seen far right in the arms
of the Revd Peter Rutherford, regularly attends daily matins with
Mr Rutherford, who is the Rector of Julianstown. He was also
present at the reunion eucharist.
It seems that Baysie lost his eye in a serious traffic accident,
from which he has since recovered.
