A NEW Church of England-sponsored academy in the Marches has
received a special police award in recognition of its anti-crime
design.
The Hereford Academy opened last year, and has now been awarded
the Association of Chief Police Officers' Secured by Design award
for including "high-quality innovative products and processes which
are proven to reduce the risk of crime and the fear of crime" in
its construction.
Superintendent Ivan Powell, of West Mercia Police, said: "The
school has greatly reduced its chances of being a target for crime
and anti-social behaviour, and the associated cost that goes with
such incidents."
