Ban on radio advertisement goes to appeal
A BAN on a radio advertisement canvassing the views of listeners
about the marginalisation of Christians (News, 7 May 2010) will be
examined by the Court of Appeal. The advert, part-funded by the
organisation Freedom of the Cross, and intended for broadcast on
Premier, the Christian radio station, was banned by the Radio
Advertising Clearance Centre, in a decision upheld by a judicial
review in March this year. The chief executive of Premier,
Peter Kerridge, said on Tuesday: "The rights of Christians to the
freedom of religious expression will now be tested in the Court of
Appeal."
