Worth quoting badly

28 September 2012

From Canon Pamela Fawcett

Sir, - Simon Parke's quotation from G. K. Chesterton ( Comment, 21 September) should read: "If a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing badly."

This is the exact opposite of what my Victorian grandmother taught me, and I have found it a witty and profound inspiration for many of my endeavours. But perhaps it should be hidden from politicians and those in authority.
