Short notices: A pocket hardback

23 November 2012

A POCKET hardback of more than 160 classic prayers, all in language compatible with the Prayer Book offices, has been compiled by Professor Raymond Chapman, and arranged as These Our Prayers: A selection of traditional prayers, under Personal Devotions, The Life of Faith, Home and Daily Life, Intercessions, and The Christian Year. Each prayer has a page to itself. The authors include Jeremy Taylor, John Cosin, Lancelot Andrewes, Richard Baxter, E. B. Pusey, Jane Austen, Christina Rossetti, John Wesley, and Thomas Arnold; other prayers come from the liturgical books of East and West - an enriching gift for Christmas or confirmation (Prayer Book Society, £9.60 (£8.64); 978-0-9535668-7-7).
