Palestinian missile attacks on southern Israel

21 March 2012

From Frances Waddams

Sir, — So the recent rocket attacks on Israeli towns and cities were “ineffectual” (News, 16 March).

Try telling that to the 1.5 million Israelis who lived in bomb shelters, missed school, suffered physical and mental trauma, and lost homes and property during the recent barrage of missiles fired into southern Israeli towns and cities from Gaza.

Your Middle East correspondent, Gerald Butt, neglects to report that, this year alone, before Israel’s pre-emptive strike on the jihadist

Zuhair Mousa Ahmed al-Qaissi, more than 50 missiles landed in Israel from Gaza. Instead, he calls Israel’s targeted attacks on jihadist terrorists “disproportionate”, and whitewashes the bombardment of Israeli towns, cities, and villages which took place over several days from the Hamas fiefdom of Gaza.
