Shock: Police officers in Greater Manchester observe a minute's
silence in memory of their colleagues, PC Fiona Bone and PC Nicola
Hughes, who were killed on Tuesday, in Hattersley, Greater
Manchester. The two officers were attacked after being sent to a
council estate to investigate what they thought was a routine
burglary report. The Vicar of Mottram, the Revd James Halstead,
told ITV Newson Wednesday that the murders were "a
terrible tragedy" that people were "struggling to come to terms
with". The Bishop of Manchester, the Rt Revd Nigel McCulloch,
has issued a prayer, which will be used by many churches across
Greater Manchester and nationally: http://www.manchester.anglican.org/news/1201/bishop-issues-prayers-for-police-constables
