A PALESTINIAN ordinand, Faros Nauon, is to spend three months on an internship with a parish in Warwick, to experience the “diversity” of the Church of England.
Mr Nauon begins his ordination training in October. He was sent to the UK by the Bishop in Jerusalem, the Rt Revd Suheil Dawani, to get practical experience of ministry, and was due to arrive in the UK yesterday.
The Team Rector of Warwick, the Revd Vaughan Roberts, said that the parish was excited about his arrival. “He will experience everything from traditional Anglo-Catholic services to the civic services we provide, through to New Wine and our ecumenical work.”
An EU report this week was highly critical of action taken by Israel in parts of the West Bank, where the number of Israeli settlers — in settlements that are illegal under international law — is now double the number of Palestinians.
The report warned that the establishment of a viable Palestinian state within pre-1967 borders seems “more remote than ever”.
