Treats not tricks

16 November 2012

CHILDREN and young people out "trick-or-treating" during Hallowe'en around Endon, in Lichfield diocese, were surprised to have the tables turned on them - but in a nice way. A group from St Luke's went out on the streets, despite the rain, and greeted them with "Happy All Saints' Eve". They presented them with a sweet-filled goody-bag that included small Christian gifts, including a pencil, and sweets with Bible texts on the wrappers, Maryanne Lloyd, who organised the event, says. About 50 bags were given away, and "the young people seemed really grateful and surprised." She adds that it seemed well worth while, and they will be doing it again next year.
