EACH Wednesday evening in
Advent, the members of the congregation of St Michael's, in the
market town of Kirkham, in Blackburn diocese, are
gathering in an independent book-and-coffee shop, where they are
joined by people from other denominations or no church at all.
They are holding open
discussions based on Bishop Steven Croft's book What the Church
Should Do Next. More than 30 people have filled the shop, and
the Vicar, the Revd Richard Bunday, has been delighted with "both
the numbers and the quality of the discussion" that has taken
place. He says it is "a truly ecumenical and mission-oriented event
for Advent".
