Pray for all schools, says joint group

CONGREGATIONS are being encouraged to pray for schools at the start of the new academic year, in the campaign Back to School with God.

The Pray for Schools network, a partnership between CARE, Youth for Christ, Scripture Union, Churches Together England, New Generation, and the Association of Christian Teachers, wants to see “every UK school become a prayed-for school”. The network also identifies local-authority workers, youth workers, and others who are increasingly working with reduced resources.

The Pray for Schools co-ordinator, Joanne Appleton, said that the events of the past few weeks had shown how much young people needed prayers.

The missions director of Youth for Christ, Damian Wharton, said: “As teachers, support staff, and pupils return to school, they enter one of the most challenging and exciting mission fields around. So, what an amazing privilege we have — to pray for and commission them all as they seek to reflect Jesus in . . . the classrooms.”
