Canon Alan Race writes:

I would like to add three aspects to the obituary of Professor Patrick Collinson (Gazette, 28 October) in order to being out further the radical side of his character. As someone who knew him in the early 1980s, I remember him as an avid supporter of the anti-nuclear movement of those times, as a great supporter of the chaplaincy at the University of Kent (where I was on the team of chaplains), and as a devoted teacher of small children at the Sunday school of his local parish church at Blean on the edge of Canterbury. He was a man of huge integrity.
