THE international community must not take its “eyes off Southern Sudan at the moment”, the Archbishop of Canterbury warned on Saturday, the day the new African republic was founded.
The inauguration of the President, Salva Kiir Mayardit, was attended by a large number of dignitaries, including: Mr Hague; the President of South Africa, Jacob Zuma; the President of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe; and President Omar Hassan Ahmed al Bashir of Sudan, who is wanted in The Hague on charges of genocide.
