Crafty website

27 October 2010

From Becky Payne

Sir, — I found the article “Crafted by hand and heart” (Features, 22 October), which focused on craftspeople who are producing new works for churches, very inspiring. It revealed what a positive relationship this can be.

I would like to draw the attention of artists and your readers alike to the website ChurchArt. The Cathedral and Church Buildings Division within the Archbishops’ Council set this up several years ago to help bring artists, congregations, and those involved in the care of churches together, as well as to encourage the arts in the life of the Church.

There are now nearly 180 artists and craftspeople on the database, together with practical guidance on commissioning and funding new artwork.

To look up artists or to apply to be on the database, please go to www.churchart.co.uk
