Poetry of courage

From the Revd Richard Willmott

Sir,— I read with great interest Jack McDonald’s account of the courage of the people of Le Chambon in sheltering Jews in Vichy France (Features, 22 January). One thing he did not mention was the treatment of the story in Micheal O’Siadhail’s poetry sequence The Gossamer Wall: Poems in witness to the Holocaust (Bloodaxe Books). This is a very moving, but also carefully researched, work that, I believe, would interest many of your readers.
